Please Make Sure You Know Your Options When You Purchase That Cute Puppy
What I have written below is very hard core, but needs to be said. It is not an ordinary anti puppy mill page like you may have seen before. It is from a breeder's perspective. Breeders know what happens to these dogs backstage because we live dogs every day. For all those who have died or are suffering right now in a puppy mill while people go goo goo ga ga over your offspring in pet shops, this is for you. May all your cages be emptied like the ones below one day.
(Click here to return to the available puppies page.)
First of all, let me warn you: If you have a weak stomach, do not read this. Also, please do not get the wrong impression of me. As I wrote this, I was angry. I get that way when I think about all the suffering that we allow and can so easily stop. I sound like a real angry bitter person below, but I am not when you meet me. My customers usually come back, perhaps 15 years later, but they come back because they know how nice my puppies are and they like me. I am a nice person, but I am a real dog person. They are my life, and I love them more than I love people in general. I guess that is why I surround myself with them all day. They make me happy. With that being said, please take the time to read what I wrote because it is really important.
In my opinion, too many so called dog lovers are intentionally ignorant to the breeding practices associated with the origin of their new spoiled family member. It is time people start opening their eyes to reality. I really am sick of people telling me about the $400 puppy they are interested in. Please do not call me trying to get my prices down with mention of the $400 puppy down the road. I do not compete with low lives like this. People that sell $400 puppies do so because they feed their adults Alpo dog food, and never take them to the vet unless they absolutely have to. Their dogs are raised in conditions like this for the sole purpose of a profit. Because medical care, good food, etc are expensive, breeders that treat their dogs well cannot compete with puppy millers. Do not get me wrong, not all puppy millers sell their puppies for $400. Many of them are VERY profitable and sell their puppies for more than people like I do. They dress them up in pretty outfits, put necklaces on them, and take professional pictures of them with attractive back drops. All this takes place while their mothers sit in a disgusting crate like this looking at the bugs crawling around on the walls as their only form of entertainment. I used to hate and still hate puppy millers to the point of wishing very bad things would happen to them. I consider myself a pioneer on puppy mill awareness. I was one of the first people to have a chihuahua website, and have always exposed puppy millers on my website. I have received countless positive comments from people that were unaware of the situation, and several threats and hate mail from puppy millers themselves. Unfortunately, I am getting to the point where my hatred is going past the puppy miller, and I am starting to feel the same way about the general public. People know what is going on now days, and they are choosing to ignore it. It is people that are allowing puppy millers to exist. If consumers would insist on checking out the conditions of the PARENTS of their new puppy, puppy mills would all be shut down. I use the word hate because hate best describes the feelings I have towards fake people that spoil and love their puppies with no regard to the abuse their parents suffer to make their existence possible. Do you think your puppy would want her mother alone in the middle of the night trying to deliver a puppy that is stuck, and because she is old now and cannot have future litters anyhow, she is denied medical help. I mean think about it. Why would a puppy miller spend $1200 to $1500 in the middle of the night on an old bitch that is just about ready to take out back and shoot anyhow. It is much cheaper and less labor intense to just take the 4 puppies she already has and give them to one of their other mothers. They know she is tired and her uterus is warn out because she is so old making it impossible to pass the last puppy, but she is now a liability and needs to die anyhow. They just let her die. Well, actually the nicer ones that have a shred of morals, take her out back and shoot her before she dies from either a ruptured uterus or a blood clot in the brain in her brain from pushing so hard all night, but most are not nice and just let her die like that because she might give them another $400. Some of them even kill the dog and quickly cut out the puppy or puppies from the belly. Many even kill young mothers and then cut the babies out. They outweigh the costs, and do what is most profitable. The dogs are not feeling beings to them, just money. I hate to be so blunt, but people need to wake the bleep up. I am sick of EVERYONE involved in this practice. That EVERYONE includes you if you are purchasing your puppy from people like this. If you are, YOU are no better than they are.
There are many breeders out there that treat their dogs well. Make sure you find one that does.
When you come over here, I have dogs running around in my home and some outside. These family members get rotated in and out. This way, they all learn proper house manners, and get a chance to be spoiled while also getting a chance to have fun outside. I live in Florida where it is warm most of the time. When it is cold, it is only cold at night, and they ALL come inside. That is the only time they are in crates unless they are mommas with their babies. And those mommas love it when they are in the crates with their babies. I have it nice and comfortable for them in there, and the crates are large and open aired. They are also by a window so the sweet little mommies can see outside. They can also see me because the crates are not in a boring bedroom. They are in my kitchen area where I spend a lot of time cooking each day etc. If one my precious little doggies has an eye infection, I treat it. I do not just let the infection get so bad that they lose the eye like puppy millers do. Puppy millers only address medical problems that interfere with reproduction. They could care less about eyes. They just piss me off so bad I can hardly stand it. What is wrong with this country? How can we call dogs "Man's best friend" what a line of crap. I figured if you read this far, you know I am smart enough to use language better than crap and piss, but those words are choice words right now for me. My blood is boiling so forgive me.
Since many millers are not always ignorant backwoods people, just heartless scum, most of them have devised ways of tricking the public to their practices or lack of. When you see a focus on genetic testing, showing dogs, loving homes (especially puppies raised in the home with no mention about where the adults live), or anything do deter from the fact that visitors are not welcome, you need to visit. Do not get me wrong: I think that showing and genetic testing are great, and bought most of my first chihuahuas 20 plus years ago from quality show kennels, but there are many show people out there that are all in it for a profit as well. They travel around showing a few dogs while their others sit at home in crates bored to tears. Just because you show, does not make you a kind person. Genetic testing is often done because heart and knee problems are in the breeders lines and have to be done to make sure they can get show puppies out of the litter. This happens because show people are often so obsessed with trying to get that perfect look for the judge that health takes a back seat to show looks. This type of breeder will breed father to daughter just to get a certain look. This is what leads to genetic problems, and the serious need for genetic testing. Since the breeder often has these problems, they need to test to make sure the particular dog is safe to invest in. It also looks good on paper even though they might not even test at all. I happen to know that these testable genetic problems are not common in the breed. I have learned to feel for knee problems and have never, in 20 plus years produced a puppy with a heart problem, not once. The fact that people are concerned with genetic heart problems tells me that they have problems in their lines. I say genetic heart problems rather than heart problems so the two are not confused. They are very different. Genetic heart problems are heart valve problems and heart murmurs. Non genetic heart problems have to do with enlarged hearts due to poor dental hygiene and being obese and are out of the breeder's control once the puppy leaves. Knee problems are different. If you cannot feel for knee problems yourself, it is wise to have your vet feel for them.
Even if your puppy has good knees to begin with, problems could still come up down the road which has nothing to do with genetics. Again, obesity plays a huge role as does injury. In Florida, each puppy that is sold is inspected by a vet, and knee problems is one of the things they feel for. If you buy a puppy in Florida, make sure you look at the health certificate under comments. That is where they note any genetic or non genetic problems they find. My vet told me that puppy millers still have him write the certificate even though it will say heart murmur, bad knees, hydrocephelic (water in the brain causing serious problems leading to early death), or any other problem the puppy has. My vet says it really bothers him, but he has to issue the health certificate anyhow. It is the law that as long as the vet states the problem in small print, they certificate can be issued. Then the breeder sells the puppy to the unadvised consumer without the consumer noticing the statement, and the breeder gets away scot free. I have never had a vet tell me my puppy was unfit for sale because of a knee or heart problem. I do not breed dogs with genetically bad knees or hearts because I love dogs with all my heart, every one of them. If you cannot visit and want your puppy shipped, at least request a video showing the conditions of the adults. It takes 2 minutes for a breeder to get their camera and take a video. It should not be a problem for the breeder at all. In fact, they should be impressed that you even care. If they do not provide you with a video, rest assured they are a puppy mill. Even if they do provide you with one, that does not mean they are not a puppy mill. That is why it is best to find a local breeder and visit rather than to ship. Breeders that love and properly care for their dogs, especially ones that have been breeding for many years are not breeding puppies with serious genetic problems. They are doing all they can to avoid problems because they are knowledgeable and they actually love dogs. Love and dedication are what you need to look for the most in your breeder.
I would not treat a cockroach the way many breeders treat their dogs.
When that gross looking person meets you in the parking lot of Walmart with your puppy, or ships you your puppy because he or she would not allow you to visit, you can rest assured your puppy's family members are living like this or perhaps even worse.
SHAME ON YOU
Oh, and please note: I did not write this to give the impression that I am the only breeder you have to choose from. I have met MANY loving, clean, and dedicated breeders, and I am not informing the public about abuse to drum up business. In fact, by writing this, I lose lots of business because I insult lots of people, and I do not care. I am so tired of hearing people say they got their puppy from a pet shop or flea market followed by, "Yes, I know I should not have, but she was so cute, and I felt sorry for her." Then they have the nerve to follow that statement with ones like this: "I felt like I had to rescue her from that place" Are you serious? You contribute to the abuse of dogs in a huge way by funding their practices and then try to market your actions like you were some sort of saint?? People like that really make me sick. They know they are contributing to abuse, but still do it. That cute puppy was just fine in that puppy shop. It is the mother and father that need to be rescued you stupid idiot. So there. I have thrown out another insult. This time to the general public, and to the many people that have said this to me. Many of them are my past customers that I really like. When they told me they purchased from a pet shop or flea market, I just bowed my head. I still like them, and still may have sold them a puppy, but I really just wish this practice would stop. I rest my case: I did not write this to drum up business. I said it before, and I will say it again. There are plenty of good breeders out there, but they do not sell at flea markets. It is your JOB and DUTY to find them. It is time we all stand up for the innocent. Do you think these flea market venders with 5 different breeds each week who are never at home on the weekends take good care of their breeding dogs? I know I see them at the vet's on Fridays all the time with all their crates of puppies for health certificates, but NEVER, not once seen any of them there in the morning bringing a dog in for a dental or a spay. They are puppy millers. If you do not believe me, ask them to meet you at their house after the market closes because you want to see the parents of the puppy you are interested in. I bet they will not do it, and if they do, it will take them 2 days to clean up first and get ready for your visit. If one of those breeders says yes, and meets you that day, let me know, and I will take this off my website, but only if they impress you with what you saw and I will check them out for my self because I do not believe it. What is wrong with you people? Quit being so lazy and blind. Stop feeding the people that treat dogs so bad they would be better off dead. Doing so makes you worse then they are. At least they do it to make a buck. You are doing it just to do it. This makes you worse than they are. Put that in your pipe and smoke it. Yes, I get a lot of hits on my website each day, and I am using it to help dogs. Some people say they love dogs, and some people prove it. Do your part to prove it, and stop feeding the scum of the earth.
AND FOR ALL MY PAST CUSTOMERS THAT MADE THE "I BOUGHT FROM A PET STORE OR FLEA MARKET IN THE PAST KNOWING IT WAS WRONG" COMMENT TO ME. I AM SORRY FOR WHAT I JUST SAID, BUT HONESTLY, I HAVE HEARD THAT SO MANY TIMES I DO NOT EVEN REMEMBER WHICH OF YOU SAID IT. IT WENT IN ONE EAR AND OUT THE OTHER, BUT IT DID MAKE ME THINK OF THOSE POOR DOGS AT THE PUPPY MILLS WHO HAVE NO ONE HELPING THEM, JUST CONTRIBUTING TO THEIR ABUSE. IT REALLY NEEDS TO STOP TODAY, AND I WILL DO ANYTHING I CAN TO MAKE SURE IT DOES. IT IS TIME THE PUBLIC STARTS LOOKING DOWN ON PEOPLE THAT BUY FROM ABUSERS. PEOPLE THAT DO BUY FROM THEM NEED TO BE ASHAMED TO THE POINT OF NOT LETTING ANYONE KNOW WHAT THEY DID BECAUSE THEY ARE REALLY NOT DOING THE RIGHT THING. THEY ARE ONLY KEEPING THE CIRCLE OF EXTREME ABUSE GOING. EVERY SALE COUNTS. HOW COULD ANYONE GIVE MONEY TO FILTH LIKE THIS? DO YOU THINK A MAN THAT CONTRIBUTES TO THE SEX SLAVE INDUSTRY BY HAVING SEX WITH ONE OF THEIR 12 YEAR OLDS TELLS ANYONE?? IT IS PRETTY MUCH THE SAME THING. IT REALLY BOTHERS LOTS OF PEOPLE, AND I DO NOT WANT TO HEAR ABOUT IT LIKE IT IS NOT A BIG DEAL. PLEASE STOP.IT IS ALL OVER THE NEWS, AND TV. PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT PUPPYMILLS YET THEY STILL EXIST. WHY, BECAUSE OF YOU PERHAPS?
It is about to get grafic people, but everyone needs to see this and hear what I have to say.
For those of you that bought a puppy without seeing the parents, take a look. Perhaps you can see mommy or daddy somewhere in there.
I wonder if your puppy's breeder cares about your puppy's health or genetics?????
Why am I so mad. Well, why not? People keep buying from puppy millers, and it is not just ignorant people. I know for a fact that normal, middle class, respectable people do because they have told me so countless times. Be thankful you have eyes people and open them. Every time a puppy mill puppy is sold, your money is put in the puppymillers pocket. This encourages them to continue knowing they can breed dogs for a profit, and get away with spending non of the profits on their dogs. The time has come. People are aware of the problem. No they need to starve these disgusting, I wish they were ALL dead, people out of the business. Yes, I am that mad because I love dogs that much, and I really do mean what I say. I am at the point that I would do anything to stop this, and if wishing them all dead makes me feel a little better, so be it. I am in pain thinking about these countless dogs that no one cares about. I am hurting very badly as I look at one of my pregnant mommas and think about her being in the hands of one of those millers. I quiver in fear at the thought. Please take the pledge to save these dogs. If everyone would just quit supporting them, it would all be over. It is that simple. Check out your breeder period.
Please pass this information on to your friends. Make it grafic or they will not listen. Share this page. Stop allowing these people to abuse dogs, and cats too. It is not acceptable and either is your purchase from the pet shop or flea market.
Mother's could you imagine raising your children in these conditions? It happens every day, every second, in this country because we support this.
If you know someone that buys a puppy without seeing the parents, start looking down on them, and let them know why. You can help.
When you visit your breeder, keep in mind that many breeders debark the dogs they have stacked in cages in a spare bedroom. These are smaller scale puppy mills, but still guilty of abuse like this.
Insist on seeing the parents AND their living conditions. If you suspect they have more dogs, and you are not taken on the tour, get the hell out of there. You do not need to rescue their puppies. They are selling them. Do not use that as an excuse. When YOU buy from people like that, YOU are the cause of their parent's abuse. End of story.
Pictures like this are the ones that puppy millers often use to make mad profits. When I say mad profits, I mean tons of money. When you spend nothing on the care of your dogs, and take their cute little puppies and dress them up like this, you make a LOT of money. No wonder these people keep doing this.
They are heartless, and they love money. I am sure they thank you very much. I am confident that flea market vender is really nice to you too. She probably even asks you to sanatize your hands. Ahhh what a caring person. Yeah right. She is as much of a piece of crap as the crates her dogs are sitting in back home are. Keep up the great work America. What a bunch of suckers.
